My first impression of Ms. Steranka was human first, musician second. This conduct has carried throughout our time together as Sarah has made noticeable efforts to breakdown the standards of perfectionism while upholding her students to the highest standard.
Coming from Syracuse University with my Bachelor in Flute and a "constant learner" mindset, I came seeking Sarah to help maintain my practice and secure versatile flute knowledge.
Pondering the improved skills that have manifested due to Ms. Steranka, expressionism and use of versatile tactics in particular, her energy and skillset have shown results. For example, Griffes Poem proved emotionally difficult in conveying the right mood, but Sarah was able to combat the issue using a collaboration of visual and mathematical references to construct tangible aids.
I am looking forward to my continued lessons with Ms. Steranka because her perspective is quite refreshing towards the musical palette that I am constructing for myself. She will help you become both the musician you NEED and WANT to be.
Thank you!

Sarah has been my daughters' flute teacher for several years now. She's had an incredibly positive impact on my daughters, in their growth as artists, performers, and now as my older daughter is applying to college, Sarah has been an encouraging mentor in her professional growth, too. We highly recommend Sarah!

As a 'senior' I found time that I was able to spend on myself. I had always wanted to learn to play the flute but was hesitant at being a bit of a late starter. From the first lesson, Sarah immediately put me at ease, encouraging me and providing techniques to help me understand in a way that best suits my abilities and learning style. My main objective has been also to have fun and we have managed to do that as well!

Sarah does a great job suggesting new music to match each student’s interests and working with them to develop their skills further. Most recently she has been finding tuba music for me to play on my bass flute!

Sarah has been my teacher for six years. She is patient, funny, and part therapist. After having raised 3 boys, one being very musically gifted, and after 32 years of being a road warrior, I decided to dust off my college marching band flute and see what I could remember. She has brought me up to speed, which has allowed me to participate fully in the flute academy flute choir and learn all kinds of great new music. It has been a pleasure working with Sarah and regaining my confidence.
